Description
Description
Akfix P635 is a high-performance, moisture-curing polyurethane elastomer designed for heavy-duty sealing and structural joint gaps. It meets severe civil engineering demands by achieving excellent primerless adhesion to virtually all building materials, including pre-cast concrete panels, bricks, wood, iron, and various plastics. It is certified to strict environmental standards, including the French VOC Class A+, LEED credit EQc4.1, and CE marking for façade and walkway applications.
Characteristics
- Chemical Base: One-component Polyurethane
- Consistency: Thixotropic paste (0 mm sagging profile)
- Curing Mechanism: Atmospheric moisture-curing
- Density: 1.20 to 1.25 g/ml
- Tack-Free Skin Time: 30 to 60 minutes (at 23°C and 50% Relative Humidity)
- Curing Velocity: Minimum 2.5 mm per 24 hours
- Elastic Capacity: Accommodates up to ±25% joint movement
- Standard Packaging: 310 ml rigid cartridges and 600 ml aluminum foil sausages
- Available Colors: White, Grey, and Black
Advantages
- High Joint Adaptability: Its low-modulus nature allows it to stretch and compress continuously without losing side-wall adhesion.
- Dirt and Tack Resistance: Once fully cured, the surface loses all residual tackiness, meaning it does not pick up airborne dust or footprint grime.
- Bubble-Free Curing Matrix: Formulated to cure seamlessly even in high humidity, preventing internal blistering that degrades sealant life.
- No Volume Shrinkage: Maintains its physical volume completely during cross-linking, avoiding concave joint recession.
- Post-Cure Paintable: Its cured surface profile accepts standard construction coatings and water-based architectural paints
Disadvantages
- Confinement Limitations: Because it relies entirely on ambient moisture to cure, it cannot set if applied in totally sealed, airtight cavities.
- No Continuous Submersion: It is not engineered to withstand continuous water immersion, making it unsuited for swimming pools or boat hulls below the waterline.
- UV Discoloration Risk: Prolonged exposure to harsh, direct solar radiation can cause light colors (especially white) to yellow over time, though it retains its rubber elasticity.
- Substrate Temperature Window: Cannot be safely applied if surfaces are frozen, wet with dew, or if ambient temperatures drop below +5°C or exceed +40°C.
